📸 Maths Week: Brilliantly Brave Mathematicians!

What a phenomenal week 3B have had! To celebrate Maths Week, 3B stepped away from the traditional textbooks and dived headfirst into the world of practical, hands-on mathematics. From the great outdoors to the classroom floor, the children have been measuring, constructing, and graphing their way to success.

Here is a sneak peek at what our amazing mathematicians got up to:

📐 1. Maths in the Wild: Outdoor Measuring

We took our math skills out into the fresh air! Armed with rulers , the class explored the school grounds to find and measure different shapes and objects. It turns out math is hiding everywhere—from the perimeter of the playground benches to the angles of the fence posts!

📊 2. Turning Data into Art: Outdoor Graphs

Once we gathered our outdoor measurements, it was time to make sense of the data. The children created brilliant graphs to compare the sizes of various objects they found outside. They did a fantastic job of organizing their findings into clear, easy-to-read visual charts.

✂️ 3. From 2D to 3D: Scrap Paper Sculptures

Who knew scrap paper and masking tape could turn into geometric masterpieces? The classroom became a design studio as the kids engineered their own 3D shapes. There was a lot of trial and error, brilliant problem-solving, and fantastic teamwork as they figured out how to make their nets stable and rigid.

🕒 4. Mapping Our Day: 24-Hour Timelines

Finally, we conquered the concept of time by creating personalized 24-hour timelines in our books. The children mapped out their daily routines, helping them visualize how hours connect and gaining a much stronger grasp of both 12-hour and 24-hour time patterns.

 

I am incredibly proud of how hard the class worked this week. They proved that maths isn't just about solving equations on a page—it's about exploring, creating, and understanding the world around us. A massive well done to everyone for a truly wonderful week of learning!
