The Federation of Towers Schools

Today, the 3B classroom turned into a full-on art studio! The children put their hands and minds to work, bringing our abstract sculpture topic to life. Using a mix of the intricate folding and secure binding techniques we’ve been mastering over the last few weeks, they created some truly incredible 3D abstract masterpieces. It was amazing to see how a bit of manipulation and structural teamwork could turn flat materials into dynamic art. Take a look at the gallery below to see their wonderful creations—we have some serious future sculptors in our midst! Well done guys! I love how everyone has taken a completely different approach! Amazing unique pieces of ART! 

In today’s semi-final, our girl’s football team showed an abundance of determination, unity and courage. While the result didn’t go our way today, each person can hold their heads high knowing they gave their absolute all in the best performance of the season against the best opponent of the season. Mr Johnson and the whole Federation couldn’t be prouder!  

The Owls worked hard during PE and were able to talk about why it is important to warm up. They had lots of fun as we played the 'bean' game, negotiating speed and space and listening carefully to the instructions. Well done, Owls!  

 

5RD have been busy this morning writing Ayesha’s recount based on our class text   Oranges in No Man’s Land . The children worked hard to write from Ayesha’s perspective, carefully using the features of a recount to bring her experiences and emotions to life. We are incredibly proud of their effort and creativity, and we can't wait to display their fantastic work on our  Writing on the Wall  for everyone to admire!

 As it is maths week, 6G enjoyed looking at a range of compound and complex shapes located in the school grounds. We split these into simpler shapes to find their total areas. 

Well done to our fabulous dancers who competed in competitions over the weekend! Thank you for bringing in your medals to share in the Time to Shine assembly this morning!   

Today, after break, our Year 5 pupils took their maths learning outdoors by creating irregular shapes on a grid in the playground. They estimated the area of their designs by carefully counting whole and partial squares, developing their understanding of how to calculate the area of irregular shapes. A huge well done to our fantastic Maths Ambassadors, who confidently demonstrated the different strategies for finding the area of irregular shapes and supported their classmates throughout the activity. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, teamwork and mathematical thinking in action!

To start off Maths Week, 6J located and measured compound shapes in our school grounds - they then calculated the area of these shapes. They really enjoyed employing their theoretical knowledge in a real life scenario, showing great love of learning!
