Year 5 Maths Week Day 1

Today, after break, our Year 5 pupils took their maths learning outdoors by creating irregular shapes on a grid in the playground. They estimated the area of their designs by carefully counting whole and partial squares, developing their understanding of how to calculate the area of irregular shapes.

A huge well done to our fantastic Maths Ambassadors, who confidently demonstrated the different strategies for finding the area of irregular shapes and supported their classmates throughout the activity. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, teamwork and mathematical thinking in action!
