3B Beyond the Flat Page: 3D Cardboard Sculptures in Art!
Yesterday, 3B took ordinary, flat sheets of 2D white cardstock and, with a little imagination (and a lot of folding), transformed them into spectacular 3D sculptures! It’s amazing how a simple snip, bend, or slot can turn a piece of paper into a living, breathing piece of art that stands on its own.
What We Learned
The students explored the foundational elements of sculpture, focusing on three key techniques:
Tabs and Slots: Connecting pieces without relying entirely on glue.
Scoring and Folding: Creating crisp, structural edges to give the paper strength.
Curling and Fringed Textures: Adding depth, movement, and personality to their designs.
From architectural towers to abstract geometric creatures, the creativity on display was absolutely off the charts. The kids loved watching their ideas literally pop off the table!
