Wagtail jam

The Wagtail Class have been very busy helping Farmer Fred with a tasty new idea! Farmer Fred was fed up with eating turnip soup every single day, so he decided it was time to grow juicy strawberries instead. His clever plan was to make delicious strawberry jam sandwiches — but there was one big problem… Farmer Fred didn’t know how to make them!

Luckily, the children in Wagtail Class came to the rescue. They worked hard to create a clear set of instructions using imperative verbs, helpful time connectives, and detailed ingredient lists. The children carefully thought about each step to make sure Farmer Fred would be able to follow the instructions successfully.

Before sending the instructions to Farmer Fred, the class decided to test them out first. The Wagtails became teachers for the afternoon and showed Mrs Agar exactly how to follow the sandwich-making instructions step by step. From spreading the jam to putting the slices of bread together, the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, speaking and listening skills throughout the activity.

Mrs Agar was very impressed with the children’s excellent instruction writing and their enthusiasm for helping Farmer Fred. Thanks to the Wagtails, Farmer Fred will soon be enjoying scrumptious strawberry jam sandwiches instead of turnip soup!
